One very important sentence

What’s something you believe everyone should know.

I think that everyone should know one very important sentence in as many languages as possible. In German, that sentence is wo ist  Das baden zimmer? In French, it’s ou est la Salle de ban? In Spanish, it’s donde esta el bano? In Italian, it’s dove il bagno? I’m working on Russian and a couple of other languages because even your English speaking city, you never know when you might desperately need this sentence.

The sentence is, where is the bathroom? Just because English is the most spoken language in the world doesn’t mean that everyone understands it. It’s a sign of respect to know a little something in several languages.

Tubes, spoons, creamy puree, ice cream, and milk

Graham before the weight loss

We’re trying very hard to get as many calories into Graham as possible. Yesterday was a decent day, with Graham eating mostly temptations and the very soft treats they make along with some melted iced cream and some milk. He had 3 meals of a mix of those things. When he drinks milk, he gets a little goatee like Colonel Sanders, and it’s so funny. His veterinary appointment is just 2 days away, and I’m less worried now because he does have an appetite and he will eat. He just won’t eat anything that needs to be chewed, which makes me think it’s his teeth that are the issue for sure. But you never know, hence the appointment. It’s just so sad to pet that skinny body.

In other news, we finally got our barn door put up on the main bathroom. Thanks to the hubby 😘 💕.

It still needs to be stained and painted, but it looks great.

This side of the door will be stained in an ebony shade, along with the cabinets in both the kitchen and the bathroom, and the other side of the door will be painted white to match the bathroom walls.

My purrfect little big man

Describe a family member.

Graham has lost quite a bit of weight recently, and I’m very worried about him . He’s usually a 10 or 11 pound Maine Coon mix,and he’s my purrfect little big man. Now is the time when he should be gaining weight for the winter, but he is still losing weight. I think and hope that the problem is his teeth, because he’s only eating the gravy from his food. He’s gotten so much thinner.  We have a veterinary appointment set for this Thursday . It’s been an issue for about 2 weeks now. It took that long to convince my husband that it’s a problem. See, my hubby hates it when I worry and will deny and downplay a problem as long as he can, so I don’t worry about it. It literally took my mother agreeing with me for him to take it seriously . That’s the thing about being brain-damaged. Nobody takes you seriously. It doesn’t help that I am a bit of a worry wart, so I get it, but when it comes to the health of our cats, I wish it wasn’t the case. Actually, I just wish it wasn’t the case at all. Hubby just picked up some gravy for cats, and Graham is licking it up right now . We’ll be giving Graham more gravy meals per day until Thursday when we have a proper diagnosis of the problem and hopefully a solution in place.

Graham, napping next to Mommy . Before the weight loss.

Rolloween

A design team in Quebec, Canada, is rolling out custom costumes for kids who are wheelchair users. The ideas coming from the kids, themselves, and the design team make them happen . Each costume is named for the kid who had the idea 💡. It’s too late to get a costume built for this year, but it’s perfect timing to get your idea in for next year.

Please help if you can

My friend, Emily, has brain cancer. Unfortunately, she lives in the USA, and she’s having trouble paying for things like tests and the medications she desperately needs. I’m sharing her Go Fund Me link below. Please help her out if you can. If not, please share the link. Even small donations help.

Hmmm, specialty, you say?

What food would you say is your specialty?

Since I’m no longer able to cook, the term specialty must change its meaning if I’m to answer the question . As for eating, I have a different specialty each and every season because I eat fresh, locally sourced fruits and vegetables. Right now, I’m just really enjoying roasts, turkey,or pork with root vegetables like beets, carrots, turnips ,oh,and Brussel sprouts and mushrooms. I’m also enjoying spinach salads.my 3 weekly fruit smoothies now include frozen berries and cherries along with fresh pears.

59 years of memory

What major historical events do you remember?

I can’t possibly remember every major event since my birth in July 1965. My first memory was winter 1967. I remember my cousin, who was 3 at the time, teaching me the right hand part to Beethoven’s Fur Elise and, when faced with a piano, can still play it. I remember in 1969,watching  very grainy news footage of the moon landing. I remember seeing Nixon resign on perhaps the same TV. I  remember Walter Cronkite delivering the news. I remember the passing of Roe vs. Wade in 1973. In Canada, in those days, the news was mostly full of stories from the states. I remember the premiere of MTV. I watched the Buggles  singing, Video Killed the radio on Star that day and thought that the kids coming up behind me are so lucky. I remember watching the Berlin wall coming down and the Scorpions singing the Winds of Change from a top the wall.  I remember when Canada had a female Prime Minister for a little while, and I think we’re way overdue for another one. I remember the Y2K worries before the turn of the new millennium, and the moment we all realized just how dumb they were .I remember the deaths of people like Elvis Presley, Leonard Cohen, John Lennon, George Harrison, Brian Jones, David Bowie, Prince, and Pierre Trudeau. I remember being moved by KD Lang’s performance of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah at the winter Olympics in Vancouver. I remember the encouragement I felt from women leaders like Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi, Coazon Aquino, and Angela Merkel . I remember the Manson and the O.J.Simpson trials. remember the empowerment that female rock stars like, Janis Joplin, Chrissy Hind, Joan Jett, Cher, Grace Slick, Grace Jones, and Alanis Morissette gave me. I remember the feeling of sadness that accompanied Jon Stewart leaving the Daily Show and the thrill that accompanied his return. I remember both the first and the last episode of late night with David Letterman. I remember Johnny Carson’s last show. I remember the premiere episode of Saturday Night Live and Kids in the Hall and the last episodes of SCTV and M.A.S.H. I remember the Vietnam War and every other war since. I recall, with fondness, the arrest of Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, and the entire #MeToo/#Times Up movement, and hope it grows stronger and more powerful over time. Unfortunately, I remember the election of Donald Trump and very much hope that we don’t see another one. And, most importantly, I remember when politics was boring and what a lovely time it was . Not everything has to be entertaining.
