It’s time to celebrate

How are you creative?

Another made-up holiday. This time of year, the whole world is noticing that the season has changed again and sees it as a moment of celebration. While it’s a lovely thing to celebrate, in general, as an atheist or non-believer , I prefer to make up my own kid-safe story to celebrate wintertime.

This is the story of Sandy Paws, the cutest kitten to ever exist. It’s said that she was so cute that even the cruelest of men would be inspired to give the most generous gifts after catching a mere glimpse of her. Her innocence was so powerful that anyone who was lucky enough to see her would never have an evil thought again. When she walked down the street, everyone would stand back in awe of her tiny and delicate stature. One year, on December 25th, Sandy Paws found a beautiful red velvet hat to sleep in. It was trimmed with the purest and softest white fur she had seen since she last saw her mother. Sandy Paws went all over town to try and find the owner of this wonderful hat, but nobody claimed it. So Sandy Paws started spending her nights nested inside her new hat, and all of the children would try to sneak a peek at her sleeping so they would have good dreams. When the children woke up the next day, they were surprised to find a tiny gift under their pillow and a little card that was signed with a teeny paw print. Could it be that Sandy Paws had snuck into all of the children’s houses while they were asleep? She was certainly tiny enough. Written on the front of each card were the words Mewy Catsmus above the sweetest picture of Sandy Paws herself, all snuggled toasty warm into her purrfect red hat. And that children is the story of why we celebrate the winter season.
