Only three

What podcasts are you listening to?

I’m pretty old, so I remember when radio was a thing. I never enjoyed talk radio, that was for older people than me. Now, I’m finding myself enjoying a podcast or three for over an hour, so I guess my attention span has gotten better. I really enjoy listening to Joanna Coles and Samantha Bee on the Daily Beast when the topic interests me, which it does more often than not.

I’m also a fan of the Pod Save America guys, especially the challenges with Brian Tyler Cohen. They’re a lot of fun.

The podcast I look forward to is The Bald and the Beautiful, hosted by drag royalty, Trixie Mattel, and Katya Zamolodchicova, otherwise known as the two Brian’s. Not only are they hilarious, but they also take on more serious topics as well and with aplomb. These two give me the laughter that I require so I don’t lose my mind.  It’s particularly nice because the conversation feels so relaxed.

  1. I never listen to podcasts, but my son and his fiancé are avid listeners.
    Fun tale for you….
When talk radio first became a ‘thing’ here is South Africa, in the salon I worked at in Johannesburg my partner and I would be glued to the radio.
The morning show host was a bloke called John Robbie and in those pre democracy days the topics would sometimes be highly controversial and on occasion conversations between clients in the salon became quite heated.
After a while Harry(my partner) and I realized with turning off the hairdryers to listen we were taking far too long over appointments. We were also becoming irritated and snappy, clients were backing up at reception and some were getting back to work late!
So, we called a halt to this nonsense, gave the small radio to someone who came into the salon one morning looking for a handout and went back to playing cassettes in the tape player.
We had a few people say things like: “Did you hear what so and so said this morning?”
Nope. We didn’t. Do you want a, coffee while I cut your hair?
Peace reigned once more and appointments ran to schedule!
    😊
Tip: Talk radio and blow dryers don’t mix!

          1. Like all professions, I suppose, hairdressing has its fair share of stories.
I can certainly relay a few, that’s no maybe. It sometimes surprised me what you women would say while having their hair done. 😊

  2. I don’t reply as often as I used to. I went through a very painful, ugly divorce and the sun is just beginning to shine on my world again. I’m writing now to let you how much I appreciate your posts. The humor, the anger, the love, and the healing- they all resonate with me. I hope I never experience a stroke, but I have my own damage and I appreciate you so much.

    1. What a nice surprise to see you here again, Erika. ☺️I’m very sorry to hear about your divorce, I’ve had 3 of my own, and they’re not a fun experience 😕 . I hope the sun stays shining on your world because you deserve it. Don’t be a stranger. ❤️
