Atheist day

Invent a holiday! Explain how and why everyone should celebrate.

Celebrated by doing whatever you like, as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. without fear of supernatural retribution. Who knows, it might just catch on.

  1. Although I do not believe (accept without proof) in a personified god, I find the word atheist problematic in that it derives from the Greek prefix A (against) and theos/theist (god/believer in a god). To be against a god is to acknowledge a god; to be against a believer in a god is, in my view, defensible only when that believer seeks to alter or control the lives of others according to their belief in a god. Furthermore, atheism as a position exemplifies extreme hubris, the conviction that one can step outside of Nature to determine the existence or lack thereof of a supernatural consciousness. Epistemologically speaking, the atheist position is nonsense.
