What principles define how you live?
While they’re not exactly principles, my mobility aids, cane, lift chair, wheelchair, and sometimes AFO brace absolutely define how I live. The fact that I rely upon my power wheelchair in order to get from my lift chair to the bathroom or the fact that I require a quad cane in certain circumstances along with my husband’s foot on the base of said cane giving me better support as I prepare to sit into our car. Even though I’m recently walking without the AFO brace, with the aid of a handrail, I expect I’ll be using it again from time to time when my left leg feels weaker. It’s odd, I’ve not felt the change of seasons in a physical way before my stroke, but now, when autumn comes, my energy levels drop off, and in winter I have very little energy and there are some things that I can do in the spring and summer, that I can not do with the cold weather. I’m really hoping that this winter, I will remain able to wear underwear and not a diaper like the past few winters. Having to wear a diaper is just depressing, especially during the weight gain time of year, as it already adds some padding to the bottom.
