All About Eve
I realize that there are no movies made after the year 2002 on my list. What can I say, I’m old. I’m willing to bet,that if anyone who was born post 2000,watches any of the movies on this list, they will learn something about what it takes to make a great movie,and not just a good one.
I need to re-watch All About Eve. I recall loving that film on the same level as I loved a few Audrey Hepburn films.
As far as the post-2000 slump… I can agree. I can think of only a handful of films that have piqued my interest since. It seems like Hollywood is determined to reboot everything (badly) or turn it into a superhero franchise.
It’s all unoriginal nonsense. Reboots and biopics of stars gone by and stupid prequels should really be on network television and not littering the theaters. You’d think with so many streaming services that there would be original stories being well told.
But why spend money on well-written stories when you can make tons of money with badly-written premises because people will watch drek and like it? This is how we got reality television… Thanks for making me smile by echoing some of the same things I have said in recent years.
Thank you for being a kindred spirit. By the way, I have a recommendation for you. If you haven’t seen the movie Who is Cletus Tout, do yourself a favor and watch it. It’s a quirky action/comedy and it just missed the list.

Just seeing the title, What About Bob, made me laugh.
I never tire of watching that movie and I still laugh out loud with it whenever I watch it.
I don’t think I have seen it, but my memory is a little fuzzy these days because… Reasons… I’ll look into it and see if it seems familiar.
