What is your favorite genre of music?
I was born in the mid-1960s with all that this entails. My favorite musical genre is the classic rock of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Everything from Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent to the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin to Cher, Joan Jett, David Bowie, and Donna Summer. The music that encompasses the entirety of the second wave of feminism, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Gay Rights Movement. I was lucky enough to be here for the majority of it all. I include the 1950s because I heard those songs in my house growing up, and they still hold a soft spot in my heart . It was also the decade of the beginning of rock and roll and the rebellion it started. I am who I am because of this music and the politics of the time period. I should include the early to mid 80s, too, with acts like Queen, Prince, Madonna, and U2.

It really depends on my mood. I love rock music, but I also love classical music, especially when writing. When I sing karaoke I will do anything from Blondie, Joan Jett, to Abba and Queen.
I also love Abba and Blondie!
My first love, if you like, was the Beatles. My parents had the album Hard Days Night and when I heard it I was hooked.
The first record I bought with my own pocket money was the single by George Harrison, My Sweet Lord.
Then it was T-Rex. Remember them? Marc Bolan.
Electric Warrior was the first LP I bought.
But pretty soon afterwards came the Stones.
I became a big fan and as we have discussed I am fortunate to have seen them live twice, once at Manchester and then years later in Johannesburg.
Around the same time as my early encounter with the Stones I encountered the music of Jimi Hendrix, after hearing Electric Ladyland at a friend’s birthday party.
That was so special and he soon became my favorite musician and still is.
I have a fairly large collection of music much of which includes jazz rock, especially, Chick Corea, Al di Meola, and Billy Cobham.

LOVE Marc Bolan and T Rex and I am SO JEALOUS of your second concert with the Stones!
I am fortunate to have seen many of my early “musical heroes”, including the likes of the Doobies, Wishbone Ash, Thin Lizzy, and Queen. Though sadly not Hendrix.
The second Stones gig was all the more memorable because I took my two children.
