Unconditional love

What is good about having a pet?

This prompt couldn’t have come at a better time.

Hubby and Boo. She’s already blind here.

The story of Boo. 8 and a half years ago, my husband and I went to the SPCA to find a cat to keep me company when the hubby was working . We were looking for an adult cat, and they showed us two. The one we didn’t choose was a cute black and white kitty who was very sweet but a tad young at two years old. Then we saw Boo,well we saw her face as she was shyly hiding her back end. One at a time, we put a hand near her face, and she nuzzled us both and purred. That’s all it took. It wasn’t until we got her home that we noticed damage to her back end. She was missing three quarters of her tail. It definitely wasn’t surgically removed either, which means that she experienced trauma before coming to us. About a year later, she started spending her afternoons alone, in the bedroom instead of on my lap. I wouldn’t see her until the hubby came home, and then she’d be all over him, giving him the love that I was hoping for . It became apparent that she had made her choice and she’d chosen him. I respected her choice, but that left me without a cat to keep me company. So, back to the SPCA, we went to pick out another cat. Enter Graham. Boo didn’t like him from the beginning, but I think she understood that I needed him.

Boo started to lose her eyesight about two years ago. She started to run into walls. Then she got a lot more careful moving around the condo, and now she is completely blind. It’s heartbreaking to look at those beautiful eyes and know they don’t work.

Even though Boo and I have had our issues, it seems she understands how sad I am because all of a sudden, I’m okay to sleep with. The following photo was taken this week

she spent almost an hour beside me and allowed me to pet her, which hasn’t happened in a few years. That’s unconditional love ❤️.
