Yes, I’m scared, but can you blame me?

Back from break to give a brief health update.

I’ve had a nasty headache on the right side of my head for a little more than a week now, and unfortunately, my doctor is on a break for the holidays until January 2nd. I will be calling her first thing in the morning on the 2nd to request that she set up a CT scan in order to negate the brain as the cause. After the scan results are in, I will have my eyes examined because the cause could be my reading glasses as well. I really hope that it’s not another brain issue, but I’m terrified that it will be. Each scan of my brain contains the potential for horrific news, especially since I have so many aneurysms that could very well be growing, not to mention the piece of myxoma tumor that traveled from my heart to my brain and was the cause of the stroke to begin with could also be growing. I have far more to be worried about than not. So when I get my brain scanned, this is where my thoughts live until results are communicated to me.

Taking a wee, little break

I’ll be back blogging on January 1st, 2025.

It’s time to celebrate

How are you creative?

Another made-up holiday. This time of year, the whole world is noticing that the season has changed again and sees it as a moment of celebration. While it’s a lovely thing to celebrate, in general, as an atheist or non-believer , I prefer to make up my own kid-safe story to celebrate wintertime.

This is the story of Sandy Paws, the cutest kitten to ever exist. It’s said that she was so cute that even the cruelest of men would be inspired to give the most generous gifts after catching a mere glimpse of her. Her innocence was so powerful that anyone who was lucky enough to see her would never have an evil thought again. When she walked down the street, everyone would stand back in awe of her tiny and delicate stature. One year, on December 25th, Sandy Paws found a beautiful red velvet hat to sleep in. It was trimmed with the purest and softest white fur she had seen since she last saw her mother. Sandy Paws went all over town to try and find the owner of this wonderful hat, but nobody claimed it. So Sandy Paws started spending her nights nested inside her new hat, and all of the children would try to sneak a peek at her sleeping so they would have good dreams. When the children woke up the next day, they were surprised to find a tiny gift under their pillow and a little card that was signed with a teeny paw print. Could it be that Sandy Paws had snuck into all of the children’s houses while they were asleep? She was certainly tiny enough. Written on the front of each card were the words Mewy Catsmus above the sweetest picture of Sandy Paws herself, all snuggled toasty warm into her purrfect red hat. And that children is the story of why we celebrate the winter season.

Any woman who

Who are the biggest influences in your life?

Is not afraid to speak her mind and knows her worth.  Examples include Cher,Bette Davis, and Angela Merkel. While I’m not afraid to speak my mind, I’m still working on knowing my worth.

The year was 1965

Share what you know about the year you were born.

A great year for movies. The sound of Music, and The great Race, and Cat Ballou, and For a few dollars More, and The spy who came in from the Cold, and King Rat, and A patch of Blue, and Doctor Zhivago all were released in 1965. And Mary Poppins won 8 Academy Awards, including best picture.

It was a fantastic year for music, too. Some of the songs that hit number one on the charts were Downtown, You’ve lost that lovin Feeling, My Girl, Eight days a Week, Stop in the name of Love, Ticket to Ride, Help me Rhonda, Mister Tambourine Man, I can’t get no Satisfaction,  and I got you Babe.

TV wasn’t so hot. It was in-between I love Lucy and the Mary Tyler Moore show.

Events wise it was a good year. The voting rights Act was passed in the USA, and the Maple leaf became Canada’s official national flag. Both Sir Winston Churchill and Malcolm X died, and Cosmonaut Aleksei Leonov became the first man to walk in space.

Inventions included Kevlar and the Internet.

And, most importantly,

I WAS BORN!

Getting very close to 60 years ago.

Yes and no

Are you a good judge of character?

I’m generally quite a good judge of character… in women, but not when it comes to men.

Certainly not now

When are you most happy?

I’m most happy when everyone around me is healthy. That definitely includes my pets. On the heels of having to put Graham down, our little girl, Boo, who’s over 14 years old, isn’t doing so well. We took her to the vet, and she’s now medicated to deal with her issues. The worst of which is a nasty bladder infection. She hates taking her medicine, of course, which makes it tough for the hubby to get them down her throat. After a couple of days on her medicine, we are seeing some improvement. It’s likely that she doesn’t have much time left.

My favorite photo of little Boo with the love of her life and mine.

So we’re trying to prepare ourselves for the inevitable. At least this time, we have a bit of notice.

I play every day

What was the last thing you did for play or fun?

Every morning, I play a daily challenge on my favorite game site, pogo.com. Every evening, I play several other games on the same site. Pogo is a great site games offering 14 different categories of different games for less than 40 Canadian dollars per year and I’ve been addicted to it for about 20 years. With everything from match 3 games to hidden object games and board games like Scrabble and trivial pursuit, I’m never bored there.

I reunited with a lost love

Back in 1991,I was gifted a fragrance that I fell in love with. It became my signature scent for years until it was discontinued. Recently, I became aware that the company has brought it back in a slightly more modern version, so, of course, I had to try it.

Unfortunately, the company is Cartier, and their perfumes are not available everywhere. I had hoped to try to get a whiff of it for free, but alas, it doesn’t exist in my city . I managed to find it on a Canadian site, and I ordered it. The scent is La Panther, and it’s a unique and complex fragrance with notes of rhubarb, big strawberry, anise, bergamot, gardenia, rose, ylang ylang, pear, orange blossom, oakmoss, musk patchouli and leather. It’s a very sofisticated scent, yet sensual and a bit daring. My scents memory came flooding back from the first spritz. This version is slightly more animal than the original with the base note of leather, and it’s even better than the original.

It was originally called Panthier de Cartier, and the bottle was very artistic if a tad fussy.

Back then you had to purchase refills and then figure out how to get it back into the surround.

In today’s version, the bottle is still artistic if more art deco, and not fussy in the least.

Love the face of a panther carved into the glass.

It’s pretty pricey for the full 100ml size, but they also sell a 50ml, which I prefer because I’m sure to finish it before it goes off ,so that’s what I bought and my wallet and my nose couldn’t be happier.

Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.

There have been very many men in my life. Some might say too many. There has been only one who has truly been  positively  impactful . That man is my current husband, who has shown me what it means to really love someone. The things that he must do for me are things that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy, and yet he does these things with a smile on his face and not a word of complaint. He not only tells me he loves me every day, but he shows me .
