I reunited with a lost love

Back in 1991,I was gifted a fragrance that I fell in love with. It became my signature scent for years until it was discontinued. Recently, I became aware that the company has brought it back in a slightly more modern version, so, of course, I had to try it.

Unfortunately, the company is Cartier, and their perfumes are not available everywhere. I had hoped to try to get a whiff of it for free, but alas, it doesn’t exist in my city . I managed to find it on a Canadian site, and I ordered it. The scent is La Panther, and it’s a unique and complex fragrance with notes of rhubarb, big strawberry, anise, bergamot, gardenia, rose, ylang ylang, pear, orange blossom, oakmoss, musk patchouli and leather. It’s a very sofisticated scent, yet sensual and a bit daring. My scents memory came flooding back from the first spritz. This version is slightly more animal than the original with the base note of leather, and it’s even better than the original.

It was originally called Panthier de Cartier, and the bottle was very artistic if a tad fussy.

Back then you had to purchase refills and then figure out how to get it back into the surround.

In today’s version, the bottle is still artistic if more art deco, and not fussy in the least.

Love the face of a panther carved into the glass.

It’s pretty pricey for the full 100ml size, but they also sell a 50ml, which I prefer because I’m sure to finish it before it goes off ,so that’s what I bought and my wallet and my nose couldn’t be happier.
