Don’t worry, there are NO SPOILERS AHEAD.
My mother and I have been faithfully watching HBO’s the gilded age since episode 1 of season 1,and we both love it, almost as much as we loved Downton Abby which was created by the same fellow, Julian Fellows. We’ve been loving the cast, especially. It’s truly a whose who of New York actors from Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski and Nathan Lane to Audra Mcdonald and little known Louisa Jacobson. While you might not immediately recognize her, I’m betting you know at least one of her relatives. And this is not news to fans of the show, but Ms. Jacobson is one of 3 daughters of Meryl Streep. Who, as you very likely recall, is a friend of the aforementioned Christine Baranski, having acted in Mama Mia 1 and 2 together. But Ms. Streep is also friendly with Cynthia Nixon as well, having acted in the movie Marvin’s Room together in the 1990s. Let’s not forget her movie past with Nathan Lane in Ironweed. She’s practically family to this production. Although, I’m sure you can guess where I’m going with this, but HERE’S MY PREDICTION…
Louisa is playing the niece of Christine and Cynthia’s characters. We have yet to meet her mother. Could we be lucky enough to add Oscar darling Meryl Streep to the cast for even just a sentence on a happy occasion? Or perhaps even a short paragraph on a not so happy occasion? HBO’s got the clout. Will they step up? I hope so
