Those of you who read me regularly may have noticed that I try not to use profanity within the confines of this blog. In this case, there is no way to express what I am feeling after hearing the news that Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation without being somewhat profane. Seeing that I would like to keep my reputation for eloquence in tact, I will let someone else do the swearing for me… as his sentiments, set to music, mirror my own.
So without further ado, may I present the very talented Tim Minchin singing The Pope Song.
And, may I add, good riddance to bad rubbish.
Unfortunately, there’ll be another one along presently…
Sadly, yes.
oh my oh my oh my! The guy can use profanities!
Indeed.
Yes, FIVE smileys!
It just had to be said.
I don’t swear much, but if there’s anything that will make me, it’s a religious coverup of child molesters. Amen to Tim Minchin. (And extra kudos for skillful execution of a patter song. I sing. Those suckers are hard, even when you wrote them yourself.)
Absolutely. I watched in amazement waiting for him to take a breath.
Thanks. I’m still laughing. Popey bye, bye, bye.
I just discovered Tim Minchin on YouTube a few days ago, and this particular song of his was part of the inspiration that led me to write my post. Thanks for sharing!
